I have loved this song for so many years. I never tire of hearing it; particularly when it is Leonard Cohen himself performing it.
I know there are many interpretations of this song; from the religious to the sexual and more.
Whatever the initial intent, the song has always moved me in my spirit. For me it is a testament to the many hallelujahs. We cry out hallelujah in praise, loneliness, love, pain, joy and need!
I think it’s all beautiful.
What’s more beautiful than having hallelujah on your lips?
“And even though it all went wrong I’ll stand before the Lord of Song with nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah”
